My Top 5 Affordable Sparkling Wines

It’s Monday. Again.

I wouldn’t say I’m exactly on the same level of Garfield when it comes to my opinion on Monday but I’m definitely not its biggest fan.

So, here are my thoughts, why not make today a little better? A little more special? A little more, say, bubbly?

While sparkling wines are usually reserved for special occasions, I think I could find an excuse to pop one every day if I really tried. Every day deserves to be celebrated, even a Monday.

Scroll down to see my favorite affordable sparkling wines that I think you’ll enjoy just as much!

(I’m listing all the prices these are sold for at O’Malia’s in Fredonia but you should be able to find them for similar prices in your local liquor store as well!)

5. Mondoro Asti – $16.99
This is an Italian sparkling wine made with moscato grapes. Italian Asti’s tend to be fairly acidic and light-bodied, and this one in particular contains sweet notes of apple and citrus fruits.

4. La Marca Prosecco – $19.59
This is the most expensive wine on my list, but I think it’s plenty worth it. It’s very light-bodied with a gentle fruity sweetness, think melon and citrus. It’s perfect if you’re in the mood for something especially fizzy as well.

3. Freixenet Cordón Negro Brut – $13.99
Freixenet was one of my first favorite sparkling wines and it continues to be so! It hails from the Cava region of Spain and is medium-bodied with a bit of fizz. Lemon and grapefruit notes make it crisp and refreshing!

2. Apothic Sparkling Red – $13.99
This sparkling red could more appropriately be classified as a rosé. Fairly bubbly and laced with sweet red berries, this wine is a definite crowd-pleaser. Not to mention, Apothic is one of my favorite affordable winemakers hands-down, they never seem to disappoint!

1. Barefoot Bubbly Extra Dry – $11.99
Believe it or not, the cheapest wine on this list is the one topping it off. I really can’t say a bad thing about this Napa Valley wine. It tastes like a fine champagne without the hefty price tag with flavors of apple, pear and honey. This is the sparkling wine I reach for when I need something quick and affordable. It’s also great for making mimosas!

Well, there you have it, my top five affordable sparkling wines fit for any occasion! Find one that suits your fancy and celebrate yourself for making it through another Monday. Be sure to let me know in the comments if you agree with my picks or if you think you know of something better! You can never have too many wines in your arsenal.

  1. Brutella and Champella from 21 Brix are both nice sparkling wines. I tasted the Champella with a splash of the raspberry wine to give it a special taste!
