Rejection

So you’ve received an email from a company you’ve been interviewing with for several months. The email states they’ve moved forward with another candidate…what do you do now?

First things first, send a response back. Do not respond bitterly. If you do feel emotional, take a few moments to yourself to gain your thoughts.

Then write a very appreciative and kind-hearted response. It’s important to understand that this rejection email isn’t always a dead-end road. You never know what other positions may open in the coming weeks.

If you respond bitter or unprofessionally, that response will be the last interaction from you that they will remember.

So leave a professional response. Thank them for their time.

Also, remember just because they rejected you; that does not mean they are no longer a connection. Write your response email with that in mind.

As I see it, you have two options. You can be down about it, or you can use this as fuel.

This rejection email can lead to multiple offers down the road, but that’s only if you continue to fill out the applications.

So fill out countless applications and continue to water your career.
