What to Do During COVID-19: Career Edition

Just like many of you, I am spending most of my days inside my house. I do go to work and am allowed some social interaction from doing so. If I didn’t have that social interaction, I probably would go a little crazy.

For those that are stuck in their homes for most days out of the week, this is a great chance to work on your career.

When was the last time you updated your resume? If you are anything like me, you have several different versions of one resume. For example, I have my main resume. It holds every position I’ve ever held. Do I use this resume for applications? No. It sits in a file on my laptop. Then I have my journalism resume. I’m constantly updating this resume, and it’s the one I use for most of my applications. Also, I have a public relations resume. I don’t use this one as often. It’s essential to have several resumes.

This is a perfect time to update your current resume. You can use this time to create a different version of your main resume.

When was the last time you sat down and learned a new skill? Right now, MasterClass is having a special offer for their annual membership. For the past week, I have been glancing at their website, browsing the courses one can take by purchasing a membership.

Recently I have wanted to learn script-writing for film & TV. This website has courses one can take and learn from the best of the best in their respected fields and crafts.

I may not end up a pro at script-writing in a month, but it’s worth looking into with all this free time on my hands.
