A Few Years Experience for an Entry Level Position

For the past two hours, I have been applying to job postings that I’ve saved on my Linkedin. I’ve noticed a common theme.
A good portion of the listings wanted three to five years experience, yet they were entry-level positions.

How is a college graduate supposed to apply for an entry-level position when they want many years of experience?

I understand that experience can come from several areas. It doesn’t have to be professional. Experience can come from internships and campus media as well.

If I were to take all of my experience from my internships and campus media, it would only be about one to two years.

Do employers really think college graduates have five years’ experience stashed up their sleeves? No.

Now, if an individual has three to five years of experience in the field, why would they want to apply for an entry-level position? Five years of experience is not an entry-level position.

Why do employers ask for this when they know its not accurate?
