It’s time to postpone the Olympics

For a while, it seemed like COVID-19 couldn’t possibly interfere with something as far away as the Olympics. But now, it seems inevitable.

With the virus continuing to spread, athletes’ training routines are going to be interrupted, and the Olympics, if they run as scheduled, will suffer with participating athletes either not being in their best shape or some contenders not even making the games due to an inadequate buildup.

Even one of the very few U.S. athletes who’ve qualified agrees.

“First of all, it should go without saying, but this is the  internet, that people’s health and safety should come first,” said Atlanta runner-up Jacob Riley.

“And putting on the games is not worth risking anyone’s life.”
