Buying new chickens means you might just have to QUARANTINE them. . .

What does this mean? How do you quarantine a chicken? It is not much different from what most of the world is doing right now! Basically, you must keep them away from the rest of the flock for several weeks (& more than 6 feet apart… haha) to make sure if they have something it is not be spreading to other chickens.

Depending on if the chicken has a serious type of illness, quarantining them is the best solution. For both the chicken and your entire flock. Different diseases lay dormant in a chickens system for a long time that is hard to see at first. These diseases can be caused by stressful movements or things that they have never been exposed to.

Diseases Associated With Chickens:
– Fowl Pox
– Fowl Cholera
– Infectious Bronchitis
– Botulism
– Infectious Coryza
– Thrush
– Newcastle Disease
– Bumblefoot

There are many more diseases away from the ones I have listed above. Any type of disease could be a dreadful harm to a animal. Make sure to know where your chicken is coming from, checking up on them and giving them the right food to make sure nothing serious happens. Make sure you show your chickens love! Trust me they will not be disappointed.
