Have you ever had a chicken perch on your shoulder?
From personal experience, I love when my families chickens do this. It makes me feel closer to that bird in a comforting and literal way. Sometimes, the chickens even talk to you! Making these short, high pitch sounds while they observe you and your skin.
Having a chicken, whether it be a baby chick or a full size one, sit on your shoulder it is like you are gaining the approval of that particular chicken. “Oh hi, you’re my owner, you feed me and let me roam your yard? Ok I’ll find a seat right on your shoulder.”
