Happy Friday Everyone!<\/p>\n

This week I bring to you an artist that I have personally met before, and fell immediately in love with her work. Her name is Sara Hopkins, and she’s an illustrator.<\/p>\n

I own a few prints of her work, and they hang on the wall of my desk so I can look at them whenever I want to (which happens to be often when I’m avoiding my work).<\/p>\n

She’s based in Upstate New York, and attends a bunch of local comic-cons selling her work. This is where I had the pleasure of meeting her, as I am an Upstate New York local myself.<\/p>\n

Sara began drawing and getting more into art in high school, she says it is her therapy and absolute joy to create. Making sure to set aside time every night for tea and sketching in order to keep her skills sharp.<\/p>\n

Another reason she is motivated to draw is because she finds it therapeutical, saying “I get excited every time I start a new drawing, but also like to work slowly and take my time with each one and let the characters come to life.”<\/p>\n

Furthermore, I asked Sara what inspires her and she told me that she takes a lot of inspiration from other artists and illustrators. She has made friends in the community both at conventions and online. Saying that those spaces create motivation and excitability for her.<\/p>\n
