This week’s featured technique is needle felting!<\/p>\n

Needle-felting is defined in this Wikipedia Article<\/a>, it involves taking colorful wool and specially designed needles to sculpt or embellish items.<\/p>\n

I’ve seen needle felting occasionally on my feed, usually of people creating little needle-felted dolls or sculptures. The process involves a lot of repetitiveness and patience.<\/p>\n

It takes a lot of layers to create a 3-D object with wool fibers. The more you push the wool into itself in order to make the piece more solid, the more layers needed.<\/p>\n

Making the details on top of the base layer can be even more difficult, since it still takes a surprisingly larger amount of wool than expected to create a small detail.<\/p>\n

Needle felting is an art form not only for creating little sculptures, but it can also be decorations on clothing or other useful items such as bags. I enjoy this, that the medium is not only artistic, but practical.<\/p>\n

Here are few artists that specialize in needle-felting, I advise you to check them out in order to get a better understanding of this medium. Unfortunately I don’t know too much about it, but I’ve enjoyed seeing the creators I’ve found.<\/p>\n
