Happy Friday once again!<\/p>\n

This week I’m bringing a technique that everyone has encountered at least once in their life, especially if you’ve ever stepped foot on a carpet.<\/p>\n

From Wikipedia, “Tufting<\/b> is a type of textile manufacturing in which a thread is inserted on a primary base. It is an ancient technique for making warm garment, especially mittens.”<\/p>\n

Nowadays, major tufting is done with a tufting gun, especially larger projects. There are literally hours and hours of people online making custom rugs.<\/p>\n

It’s something I’ve seen online for a while now, and people have found many different ways to be creative with the technique. The addition of technology making the process considerably much easier for anyone to try I’m sure has helped it take off. There are just endless possibilities.<\/p>\n

There are also various projects that I’ve seen people use tufting for other than just rugs. Like car coasters, purses, and even book covers!<\/p>\n

Textiles have been around for hundreds of years as it’s been necessary. It just makes my heart happy that even in a day and age where you can use technology to make a process easier, people still find the time to create something unique using old processes.<\/p>\n

Techniques that used to be a necessity to daily life, but now can just be done for fun.<\/p>\n

Below is a video example of the tufting process with an Appa rug created by Rugalia Designs\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

There’s also punch needling which is just tufting but much smaller, and typically by hand using a punch needler. That’s how these car coasters by Muudland were created.<\/p>\n

I implore you all to go look into tufting on your own, there are many artists with different ideas and designs that I’m sure you’ll find something you deem neat.<\/p>\n
