Hello and Welcome to Unique Techniques!
My name is Emily Dahlin and I’m the creator of this blog! I am currently a Senior at the State University of New York at Fredonia, and I’m pursuing my degree in Theatre Arts. I’m also completing a minor in Visual Arts and New Media.
I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself as well as my vision for this blog, please save all your questions until the end of the presentation!
I feel that I should clarify that my Major entails all aspects of Theatre, but I myself am primarily a Stage Manager. I set up meetings, work directly with the production teams and alongside the Director in order to keep shows organized from the very first email regarding contact information, to auditions and rehearsals, and then through opening night and the final strike of the show.
Needless to say, my career choice requires me to be not only organized, but creative as well! My minor especially has challenged my creativity with a few sculpture and ceramics classes, encouraging me to work outside my comfortability in the art world. As I’ve been navigating the art world more recently, I’ve been exposed to a lot of different artistic mediums.
Primarily this is thanks in part to Instagram, and I have been thoroughly enjoying find small artists from all over the world that I fully believe need more recognition in the public eye. As I’ve been finding new artists all over the inter-webs, it has been encouraging me to find more ways to be creative on my own and I want to share those creativities with everyone!
My goal is to show everyone what underground artists I have found and fallen in love with. The hard work these people put into their creative work is amazing, and I believe as many people as possible should see them. In turn, I hope that this will encourage viewers to find new creative mediums themselves.
In turn, I hope that this will encourage viewers to find new creative mediums themselves. A medium they may discover, or one they never even knew existed. I think art makes the world a much more wonderful place to be in, and my goal is to help others find joy in the creative process much like myself.
I hope you stay for the posts to come, I look forward to sharing my experiences and creativity with you!
Until next time,
Toodles!
