From Emo Nights to My Chemical Romance’s comeback, it’s safe to say that emo is experiencing a revival. That is, if you believe it ever died in the first place.
I don’t think emo died, personally, but I’m heavily biased, in this case.
However, no matter your stance on the subject, emo music has been rising in popularity after a lull in releases from the bands that many 2000s and 2010s emos loved. Think Pierce the Veil, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, etc.
Author Judith Fathallah believes that emo’s comeback is no coincidence, but rather that today’s landscape created the perfect setting for emo to become popular again.

The fact that I think emo never died in the first place does not downplay that our current decade did create just the right amount of new releases and nostalgia for the past for emo to experience a resurgence.
