The Weekly Birthday

This week, our celebrity birthday is Justin Bieber, who is turning 29 years old. Cool!

Justin has been in the public spotlight since 2009 with the release of his hit song “One Time” off his debut album. This song went viral instantly and catapulted him into international stardom almost instantly. Wow!

His public image began as an innocent, nice teen boy with a good voice and star potential. His innocence in the media started as an ignorant child and as the industry shaped and molded him, we saw a change in his demeanor.

With constant paparazzi in his face and media attention seemingly all day every day, Justin was not feeling this. He began abusing drugs, with him stating in his documentary that he abused every drug you could think of.

He caused controversy after leaving a comment on the Anne Frank Museum message book on the way out, saying he hoped she would have been a “belieber” if she was around at the same time as him being a celebrity.

Justin was involved in numerous controversies over the years which have made him a TMZ regular. He was reported to have assaulted camera people, fans, and those around him in his crew.

He was also cited for threatening to kill his neighbor, which involved a police altercation.

Other instances included him being arrested for DWI charges. This was the catalyst for a petition to have him deported from the United States. This petition was considered by the courts due to his legal troubles and non-citizenship status.

This was joined by a video leaking shortly after which showed Bieber inside of a restaurant, appearing intoxicated, causing a ruckus inside of a restaurant. This involved screaming and video recording of the incident for the world to see. This video ended with Justin peeing inside of a bucket in the restaurant, after taking a picture of Bill Clinton that was in the restaurant and screaming “Fuck Bill Clinton” out loud.

Justin claims he called Clinton to apologize for the offensive video and behavior and that Clinton accepted his apology.

Justin’s mugshot shortly went viral afterwards, with a picture of him smiling and seeming happy that he was just arrested for a DWI.

This shines a light on issues of child stardom and the mental impact that his stardom has on an individual who has been in the spotlight consistently for years and years. The mental decline that we saw is not shocking, as we have seen this type of decline with many celebrities. This is especially common for child stars, who grew up in the spotlight and must grow up with the world watching their every move.

Justin has since moved on, getting married and having health issues such as Lyme disease and Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This has led to a slowdown of his public persona and more time for him to focus on his mental and physical health.

Slowing down his career has been beneficial and focusing on his mental health has become a priority.

Due to mental health and physical exhaustion issues, Justin cancelled a large chunk of his Justice world tour. He then continued his break by cancelling all his North American shows.

This mental and physical health break ended up being permanent, cancelling the remainder of the international shows for the tour.

Justin has been through ups and downs that nobody except him and a few select others can understand, since there has only been a handful of young celebrities who ever have been near his level of fame at that age.

Oh Justin!
