In Memory Birthday
Today, March 12th, marks the birthday of Christina Grimmie.
Christina Grimmie was born in New Jersey in 1994 to Tina and Albert Grimmie.
She began singing at an early age and when she was six years old, her father discovered that she had a real talent for singing. This led him to help her pursue music as a profession.
This talent took her to the internet. When she was fifteen years old, she decided to start posting songs that she loved on YouTube by making cover videos. These videos started to gain traction on the internet and in the music world, which led her to start getting some notoriety and getting her signed to a record label.
This was the beginning of a music career for her. She released her first EP, called Find Me. This was after touring with Selena Gomez as her opening act. The release of this EP was met with acclaim for her voice and shot her into more public spotlight. This brought opportunities for her to have her own tour and showcase her songwriting and singing talent for the entire world to enjoy.
She moved to LA and began a career as a personality on The Voice. This brought her household name status in the US as she became known for her personality just as she was for her voice. She was the third runner up in the competition. This shocked many as she was poised to be the winner in the eyes of many viewers.
Christina Grimmie had her life cut short much too early. She was performing in Florida at a concert on her tour. This was a stop that ended with a signing and meet and greet table for fans to meet the artist. She posted about the concert that morning and told fans they could come meet her after the concert.
After the concert, she was singing autographs as promised. A fan came up and she greeted the fan with open arms to give the fan a hug. He then pulled out a gun and shot her, killing her. He was pinned down by Grimmie’s brother, who was unsuccessful in keeping him down. He then shot himself, killing himself in the process.
This death shocked the music world and caused mourning for many fans around the world. This senseless murder was the tragic end to her life, but not the end to her legacy in the music world and in the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide.
RIP Christina Grimmie, 1994-2016.
