We’re Happier Than Ever with Billie Eilish’s new album
Hey everyone! Welcome to this weeks post. For this week, we will be talking about the new hit album Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish.
As per usual, before we get into the album itself, let’s talk about Billie and how she got to where she is now. She is a 20 year old artist from Los Angeles. Her first song was released when she was barely a teenager and soon became a viral hit in 2015. She released her first album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go in 2019 and than soon hit the billboard charts. This album won multiple awards after being released. Her next album is the one we will be talking about today, Happier Than Ever which was released in summer of 2021. It quickly went viral and was number one in 25 different countries. At the young age of 20, Eilish has won multiple awards including Grammy awards.
As mentioned before, her album was released in July of 2021 after she released a couple singles leading up to this. She released the songs my future, Therefore I Am , Your Power,Lost Cause and NDA all before releasing the album itself. Including those songs, here is the track list showing you what the rest of the songs are.
It did not take long for this album to hit the charts and for songs to go viral on different social media platforms. The song that gained the most traction from her album was the hit Happier Than Ever. This song became a tik tok sensation. The song can be interpreted to be about a breakup and the edgy bridge of her calling out an ex had people hooked. Everyone was posting different videos about it and talking about it everywhere mainly using it to call out their exes and what they had done to them in the past. There were a lot of articles released that reviewed her album. One of the main ones was Pitchfork. In their review they complimented the style of a lot of her songs. They mentioned how some of her songs are slower and elegant while others are the opposite and some have flashes of energy throughout the song keeping it somewhat upbeat. Everyone knows Billie Eilish as someone who is comfortable being herself and shows that in her fashion and within her music. A quote from this article that I feel embodies her music is “Happier Than Ever retreats into a softer sound where the flashes of weirdness are subtle but inventive.” Now when they say weirdness, they don’t mean it in a bad way. They mention that in her music she doesn’t try and portray her life and life in Hollywood as a fantasy that is all amazing. She makes a point to talk about the hardships people face and the various downsides being a celebrity has. After this album was release, she won multiple awards and her is a list of some.

She is also now nominated for multiple 2022 Grammy awards. For just turning 20, this is very impressive and she is only going to go up from here.
Now for my take. I personally love this album. I started getting into her music right before this album came out and when it finally did, I would listen to it on repeat. She has some songs that have such a different sound than what I’m used to but I grew to love it. All of her songs are similar yet so different and it makes the album interesting to listen to. I think it’s an album that everyone needs to take a listen to at some point.
