This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is a bit older and if I’m being completely honest, can be a bit corny at times… but what romance movie isn’t? I think that Bewitched is a great comfort movie that can be watched alone or with others. I’m fully aware that this movie might not be for everyone, but I’m hoping someone will be able to enjoy it as much as I do!
Ratings/Award(s)
Like I said, this is one of my all time favorites and is one of my go-to comfort movies. I love the plot, but for having a cast full of A-list celebrities the acting could be a bit better in my opinion. I’d personally rate Bewitched 4.5 out of 5 stars in my biased opinion. However “professional” ratings would not agree unfortunately.
Rotten tomatoes rated this movie 24% on the tomatometer and 28% on the audience score. It was rated 4.8/10 stars on IMDb.
Bewitched received an award for Outstanding Supporting Actress Performance in a Film at the First Americans in the Arts Awards. They also won Worst Screen Couple at the Razzie Awards.
Summary
When Isabell Bigelow (Nicole Kidman) decides that she doesn’t want to be a witch any more and wants to experience life as a “normal” human, she finds herself in a situation she’d never expect. She is found by failing actor Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell) who is looking for someone to play the witch Samantha for a reboot of the show Bewitched. Although she is hesitant taking the role considering it is someone she’s trying to move on from being, she pursues the role unaware of what it’s like to work with Jack.
As Isabell starts to fall in love with Jack, his narcissistic tendencies opened her eyes to who he really is. When she no longer knows what to do, her aunt appears to help her “fix” things. Watch Bewitched on Amazon Prime to see how it plays out!
