Down Sizing
Hello again! I know that it has been a long time since I decided to sit down and actually provide content for you all, but I decided to give it another go. As I mentioned in my last post, I am now a senior in my undergraduate degree! That means however that I have to move out of my apartment at the end of the semester…which also means I have to start selling some of my Squishmallows! I decided that I would go through all of my Squish and see what I had and what I wanted to keep.
I ended up creating a list (that you’ll see below) of what Squishmallows I have. From that list I decided which ones meant more to me or I just genuinely liked more. Most of the ones I kept were ones that my boyfriend got me or ones that have been on my ISO (In Search Of) list for a long time. Yes, I know that keeping 10 Squishmallows is still a lot of stuffed animals, but I find it harder to store the bigger ones. This way, when I go back home I only have to find spots for a few Squish.
The Selling Process
Surprisingly enough, I actually found the whole “selling” process to be fairly simple. I go to a school in which each “grade level” has created a Facebook page. Since being on this page, I realized that a lot of students were using it as a way to sell things like textbooks or just other things that they don’t want anymore. I decided that I would just take pictures of my Squish and post them on the Facebook page and see what happed. I actually was able to sell a few from just the posts. However, something that I used a lot was YikYak.
YikYak is a “pseudonymous social media smartphone application that initially launched in 2013 and relaunched in 2021. The app, which is available for iOS and Android, allows people to create and view discussion threads within a 5-mile radius”. Many people use this just to troll or trash talk campus. However, I think I sold more Squismallows because of YikYak than Facebook.
Prices
I feel as though finding a good price to sell Squishmallows is very challenging. There are a lot of people who charge a crazy up-charge when selling. However, I am in college selling to other college aged students. We are literally known for having very little money. I still try to make some sort of profit, even if it is small. I usually try to sell $1 per inch, especially since I don’t have to ship them.
