The NHL trade deadline is past us and a few teams made big acquisitions to help them push into the playoffs. These teams include the Florida Panthers, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Colorado Avalanche.

My favorite of the trades comes from Florida, where the Panthers have acquired winger Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottowa Senators. I am a big Tarasenko supporter and I think he will be a huge piece for the Panthers as the playoffs approach.

Tarasenko has put up some solid numbers this year with 44 points and a 16 +/- for the year.

Next, we have Jake Guentzel being traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Carolina Hurricanes. Guentzel has been paired up with Sydney Crosby for several seasons and the two have finally been broken up.

Guentzel has had a great season so far and has amassed 52 points, 30 of which being assists.

Finally, we have Casey Mittelstadt coming from Buffalo to the Colorado Avalanche. Mittelstadt has been a staple on the Buffalo team for the past two seasons and should provide a solid boost to their second line.

Mittelstadt has 47 points on the year and a +/- of 12.
