Games of the Week: March 25th – March 31st

This week we have a wide variety of sports in view, including the NHL, MLB, NBA, as well as NCAA women’s and men’s basketball. It’s going to be a busy week so let’s start it off with the really important games in the NCAA tournaments.

UCLA Bruins vs. LSU Tigers: Saturday, March 30th @ 1 pm ET

In what will be an important matchup determining the rest of the tournament, number 2 UCLA takes on number 3 LSU. LSU comes into the game as 2.5-point favorites and are looking to return to the national championship game for the second year in a row.

LSU, last years champion, is on a crash course with Iowa and Caitlin Clark for the second year in a row and a lot of fans are interested in seeing how this tournament plays out.

Tennesse Volunteers vs. Creighton Bluejays: Friday, March 29th @ 10:09 pm ET

With the Sweet 16 in the men’s tournament being stacked full of good games, it was a tough choice. But this should be one of, if not the most high-intensity game.

Both teams are very evenly matched, but the Vols are 2.5-point favorites coming into this one. I see the Bluejays coming out on top of this one, however.

NHL

Colorado Avalanche vs. New York Rangers: Thursday, March 28th @ 9 pm ET

There are numerous great games this week, but I let my own bias choose this one as well as the meaning of the game. The Rangers (at the time of writing this) are one point ahead of the Avalanche in the league standings and were nearing the end of the race for the President’s Trophy.

The Rangers lead the season series with the Avalanche 1-0 and are looking to take a sweep on the year.

NBA

Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: Friday, March 29th @ 9 pm ET

Similar to the NHL, this is a great week of NBA action. This one has to take the cake though, as two of the top three teams in the Western Conference go head-to-head.

Their regular season series is tied at one apiece, and either team is looking to gain the edge. The Nuggets are currently in first place in the west and the Timberwolves should be looking at this opportunity to try and gain some ground on them.

MLB

TIE: Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees: Thursday, March 28th @ 4:10 pm ET OR Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves: Thursday, March 28th @ 3:05 pm ET

Opening Day is finally upon us! That’s why I felt it was reasonable to throw in to of the best matchups this week.

First up, the New York Yankees are traveling to Houston to take on their non-division rivals, the Astros. This series is always a competitive one as the two franchises have some questionable history.

The new-look Yankees with Juan Soto and Marcus Stroman will look to show that they are back to the Yankees of old and their championship ways.

Moving North East up to Philadelphia, the Phillies take on the Braves in a divisional matchup to start each team’s season. The Phillies, who for the past two seasons have sent the Braves home in the playoffs, look to take advantage of this early season three-game series.

The Braves have been a powerhouse in the MLB the past few seasons, and the Phillies will be looking to take an early division lead this season.
