The Rangers Move to 5-0 in the Playoffs

The New York Rangers have moved to 5-0 in the postseason, following a 4-3 victory over the Hurricanes. The series will resume on Tuesday but here are some of my thoughts regarding the rest of the series.

Today’s game put some doubts in my mind, but not a lot. The main being the shocking difference in offensive control time.

The Hurricanes nearly doubled the Rangers offensive control time today, and that may be startling. However, this may have been due to the lead the Rangers were maintaining.

The Rangers had the lead from 10 minutes into the first period, and after that, they let off the gas playing smart hockey. When the Canes brought the score to within one, the Rangers followed that up with a goal of their own six minutes later.

Other than that, there wasn’t much that was concerning. Mika Zibanejad and the first line looked great, the power play played great, and as they have the entire playoffs the penalty kill dominated.

I am sticking with my prediction of Rangers in six. I think they may lose one in Carolina, and that they are due for a loss in the Garden.

But I think in the end, this Rangers squad is something else. I think they have what it takes to make it all the way.
