Jackson Holliday is Here, and I Hate Him

No, I don’t hate him. But I am a Yankees fan and it is not going to be fun playing against him for possibly the next two decades. The Orioles top prospect made his MLB debut this week and that team gets scarier and scarier every day.

The young infielder has had a slow start in his MLB career, going 0-11 in his first three games. However, early Sunday he picked up his first big league knock against the Brewers.

Even though he has gotten off to a slow start, I don’t see it lasting too long. Take the Yankees’ previous number-one prospect Anthony Volpe for example.

Last year, Volpe had a decent, but not great season. However, to start 2024, Volpe is batting near .400 and looking like he will be leading off the Yankees lineup for the foreseeable future.

It can take some time for these young prospects to get acclimated to the MLB and they may start a little slow. Fans need to give these kids a break sometimes (I’m allowed to call Holliday a kid as he’s younger than me) and let them figure themselves out at the big-league level.

Now with all of that said, I certainly hope Jackson Holliday doesn’t figure it out, because with him, Adley Rustchman, and Gunnar Henderson in the same lineup, the Yankees will be clawing their way through them for years to come.

However, I went to the Yankees game in Cleveland today, and nobody is stopping that team come October (I’m emotionally preparing myself for heartbreak again).
