QSMP: The World’s First Multilingual Minecraft Server

The QSMP, also known as the Quackity SMP (Survival Multi-Player) is a brand new Minecraft server created by the creator who shares the server’s name, Quackity.

Quackity is a bilingual streamer and Youtuber who is a former member of very popular minecraft server, the Dream SMP.

Quackity was born in Mexico, and now lives in Los Angeles. He is fluent in both Spanish and English and streams in both languages, creating two different communities.

Following his departure from the Dream SMP, Quackity had an idea to unify his two communities, so he created a server that would include both English speaking creators and Spanish speaking creators.

This SMP is the first server that has creators consistently speaking different or multiple languages and learning from one another.

This server includes some of my favorite American and British content creators and I’ve been introduced to some of my new favorite Spanish and Latino creators through this server.

Not only is this an opportunity for the creators to learn each others’ languages, but also for the viewers to learn through immersion.

Personally, since I began watching the videos and streams from the server, I’ve learned more Spanish than I did through my eight years of classes from elementary to high school.

It can be quite difficult to follow 17 different people’s streams, so I primarily watch Wilbur Soot’s streams, clips from other streams, and follow the updates account on Twitter to keep up.

The best part about the server, which is also the most difficult to follow is the story-line they create as they play.

A fair amount of the play-through includes some kind of roleplay, which may sound slightly cringe, but it’s very minimal, unlike the Dream SMP.

The server began about a month ago, and you can watch the chaos unfold from the video Quackity posted on it.

Since it began, there’s already hundreds of hours of content to watch. My favorite thing to do is have different clips or streams play in the background while I do my work.

*Cough Cough* Like right now.

A few dedicated fans have also created a Fandom Wiki page with resources to inform new and concurrent viewers of events in case they missed something.

There’s a detailed timeline that highlights all of the most important events that have taken place on the server.

Another great resource to look to is the QSMP Updates Twitter account. They update after every creator’s stream and there’s an account in English and Spanish.

BUT! Things are about to get wayyyy more complicated and exciting! The live translation mod within the server has the capability to translate more than just English and Spanish.

Yesterday, Quackity announced that creators from all over the world would be joining the SMP!

This server started as the world’s first bilingual Minecraft SMP and is now the world’s first multilingual Minecraft SMP!

Quackity, his staff, and his admins have worked so insanely hard on this project and I can’t wait to see this new world expand.
