Gossip Girl
During high school, my friends raved over Gossip Girl.
At some point I decided to give it a try… boy was I happy that I made that decision.
I remember being so stunned while watching it because it gave me a peak into a world I had never seen.
After watching it, I could understand and believe the hype around the show.
Synopsis:
Gossip Girl is about a group of affluent teens who live in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
One of the popular Upper East Siders, Serena Van der Woodsen returns to town.
Her return is made public by the secretive blogger known as Gossip Girl.
No one knows the identity of the blogger, but everyone subscribes to hear the latest gossip.
The show follows the characters through all their scandalous drama that is their very lives.
Gossip Girl has 6 seasons with 10-25 episodes per season.
My Thoughts:
Gossip Girl takes you on a wild ride.
The show gives you a look at wealthy people and the drama and secrets that come with that lifestyle.
I loved that the show featured high school aged kids because I could identify with some the of the struggles that the characters went through.
I enjoyed the different relationships and friendships within the show, although loyalty is a trait that is hard to find in this show.
Plus, Gossip Girl has some of the juiciest drama I have ever seen on TV… and try to remember, I was 16 at the time when I first watched.
Also, I understand that it’s a drama, but I would’ve loved to see Serena and Blair have each other’s back more.
The characters are insanely attractive, which also helped.
After rewatching the show during college, I did wish the show incorporated more diversity.
There is a reboot on HBO Max, but I haven’t watched it yet.
One of my favorite characters is the Queen B Ms. Blair Waldorf.
I grew to lover her due to her character development throughout the series.
Her domineering and ruthless personality made her a powerful force to be reckoned with.
She might fight and barely trust her own friends, but she will always defend people who are important to her.
Another honorable mention is Chuck Bass.
Chuck bass is the bad boy of the Upper East Side who has one of the biggest egos I have ever seen.
He is manipulative, entitled, and sleazy at times, but his incredible character development throughout the series makes you fall in love with him.
The Naiyah Rating:
Understandably, I would have to give Gossip Girl a 5-star rating.
I love the drama and the look into Manhattan’s wealthy elite.
The show has left a lasting impression with people in my age range and younger generations who will end up binging it at some point.
It is an additive guilty pleasure to enjoy.
If you’re looking for a scandalous drama involving teenagers who follow an undercover blogger… then Gossip Girl is the perfect show for you.
XOXO, Gossip Girl
