Arrow
In the beginning of the Pandemic, after listening to Cardi B and Kanye, I decided watch a new show.
I ended up picking “Supergirl” because it seemed like it could be interesting.
When I was almost finished the first season, my brother informed me that I needed to start at the beginning to really understand the storyline.
I was confused considering I assumed that I was at the beginning, but I soon learned that the Arrowverse was much bigger than I ever anticipated.
Synopsis:
The “Arrowverse” refers to the variety of Superhero shows based on DC Comics. The beginning show is Arrow.
The shows involved in this universe are: Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Black Lightning.
Arrow is based on the presumably dead billionaire, Oliver Queen. Oliver was located on a secluded island for 5 years.
During his time on the island, he dealt with different traumas that led him to change playboy ways and adopt some new abilities.
Once he returned to his hometown, Starling City, he becomes a vigilante that utilizes the skills of archery.
His goal is to amend the wrongs of his family and make his city a better place.
Arrow has 8 seasons with 10-23 episodes per season.
During the series, there are cross-over episodes that allow the superheroes (The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Black Lightning) to come together and defeat a common enemy.
My Thoughts:
I recently re-watched Arrow and I forgot how amazing the show really is. The show provides violence and genuine characters which kept me interested.
Don’t even get me started on the drama… There’s cheating, secret love babies, people returning from the dead and I haven’t even scratched the surface.
I am a huge Marvel fan, but the Arrowverse and DC Comics have a special place in my heart.
Oliver Queen is my favorite character due to his authentic character development and the way he cared about the people he loved.
An honorable mention is Felicity Smoak.
Felicity is hard-core, intelligent, and loving person. Her computer skills helped make Team Arrow into the amazing team that it is.
A character from the Arrowverse that resonated with me is Barry Allen (The Flash). Barry Allen is a sweetheart who uses his power of super speed for good.
The Arrowverse has some of the best villains I have seen on a TV series.
Without giving spoilers, my top villains are Slade Wilson, Ra’s Al Guhl, and Malcom Merlyn.
The Naiyah Rating:
Arrow and the Arrowverse is an excellent show and superhero universe.
My entire family has seen at least 3 out of the 6 shows within the Arrowverse.
I love Kylie Jenner and Taylor Swift, my brother likes Travis Scott and football, and my mom loves Madonna. As you can tell, we’re all different people with different interests, but we all love the Arrowverse.
The cross-over episodes resemble the legendary Avengers which brought iconic superheroes together on one screen.
Although, you can watch each show individually, it is recommended that you begin with Arrow.
The Arrowverse will connect to every person, even if the individual doesn’t find superhero shows to be interesting.
Since its Fall and Halloween is around the corner, grab some candy and start bingeing the 500+ episodes within the Arrowverse.
Where to Watch:
Netflix subscription. The episodes are available for renting/purchasing on, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Vudu and Apple TV.
