Many fans who don’t normally attend Sabres games, or any event in general in downtown Buffalo may not know some easy tips or tricks when it comes to the day of the scheduled event. Luckily, thats why we are here… for you!
Traffic: When it comes to traffic around KeyBank Center on the day of an event, things can get a little crazy and chaotic. We suggest to obviously give yourself enough time to get to the arena, prior to the start of the event. Many may take the I-190 and then exit at Perry St. (Exit 6) which is one way to get to the arena, but from what I’ve tested personally, going on Route 5 and getting off at the Ohio St. exit (last exit before skyway starts) is the quickest way to get too the arena. This option is also quicker to leave the arena, rather than take the I-190.
Parking: There’s lots of parking options near the KeyBank Center. Whether it’s at the surface lots, the parking ramp connected to the arena, or the HarborCenter, you can’t really go wrong. I personally always choose the KeyBank Center surface lots. It’s not even a block away from the arena, same price if not cheaper than the other options that surround this lot. There will be traffic upon leaving but this will happen at every bigger sized lot. Another pointer I strongly recommend is pre-purchasing parking passes. Sometimes, with the amount of congestion within the area, cell service/wifi can be quite slow, so save yourself the hassle and purchase your passes BEFORE you head to downtown.
Food/Beverages: I’m sure many are aware of the stingy arena prices of food/beverages, but thankfully there is lots of options nearby! Southern Tier Brewery, Labatt House U.S.A., Pearl St. Brewery, The Liberty Hound, and many, many more located within walking distance of the arena! Explore your options before game day, as there are plenty of them, and give these local businesses your support! If you are running behind and won’t have time to stop somewhere else before the game, the arena has TONS of options for you so don’t even worry.
We hope that these ideas will help you down the road and improve your overall experience in downtown Buffalo!
