The Future of the MCU

So that’s it for now, the end of the line.

With a plethora of content behind us and plenty more coming down the pipeline, what’s left but to speculate the whole point of this blog?

Did the MCU flagship sail after the loss of Iron Man, or have they been able to keep the momentum going well enough to warrant their continued entries?

While many entries as of late haven’t been critical or box-office hits, the franchise was never solely about making the big blockbuster entries; rather building to them.

The first Avengers film is a perfect example of that, it’s one of the two primary films people initially think of when talking about Phase One.

It’s an iconic film and made many new and old fans not only go back and watch the previous entries they had seen, but also continue to watch the franchise for the following 10+ years

The other golden child of the phase is the first Iron Man film, and for a few years those were the only MCU films audiences cared about.

It wasn’t until The Avengers came out that public opinion started to change for the better on the Capt. America film.

Most people just skip right over Iron Man 2, barely anyone watched The Incredible Hulk, and people still dog on the first two Thor movies to this day.

Point being, the MCU was never known for churning out banger after banger after banger.

They got lucky a few times, undoubtedly, but a lot of the franchise exists to set up future events, which in turn only exists to set up further future events.

I personally think the MCU is in a bit of a slump right now; stretched themselves too thin trying to do too many projects at once without enough staff or funding with any of them.

With that said, in a few years The Fantastic Four are likely going to team up alongside the new Avengers, X-Men, and Deadpool to fight Doctor Doom and other inter-galactic threats, I would have to be a fool not to check that out.

I think disgruntled audiences are just burnt out on trying to set up all these new characters and rules to the universe but come Phase Six and those same people are going to be right back in their theatre seats, cheering on the super-hero antics alongside everyone else.
