Vegan Beauty
Hello Veggie Lovers, welcome back to another new blog post. For this week’s post we will be discussing vegan beauty. Whenever people hear the word “vegan” their minds typically go to food.
But veganism applies to what we use on our skin as well, there’s a huge part of skin-care and makeup products that apply the same animal-friendly principles to beauty, and it’s important to know about this industry as well.
Kind of like with food, vegan beauty means that the product has zero animal-based ingredients inside it.
Vegan beauty/cosmetics are made without materials of animal origin or their traces.
Conventional materials of animal origin, such as honey, beeswax, lanolin, collagen, elastin, etc., are replaced by materials derived from plants or minerals.
Why use vegan products?
If you are vegan or in the process of going vegan, it is definitely important to be aware of some of the materials that go into makeup or skin care products.
As vegan cosmetics become more popular, more people can learn about the many benefits that come with most vegan cosmetics.
Such as the natural ingredients in them and the fewer synthetic chemicals compared to standard cosmetics.
This is better for the environment as it means fewer potentially toxic chemicals are released into waterways, soils, and the air.
How to know if a product is vegan?
When shopping for vegan beauty products make sure to look for the “Vegan,” “Vegan-Friendly,” and “100% Vegan” labels/stickers.
All of these typically mean the same thing. The product doesn’t contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products.
