Welcome to Purely Plants! The main purpose of this blog is to educate soon to be vegans, current vegans, and even non vegans on what veganism truly is about.

This blog will go in depth on how to live a healthy plant based life, as well as some tips and tricks for college students who are also newly vegan or wanting to become vegan.

Tasty recipes and vegan must have products will also be incorporated. Some other topics of discussion will be vegan fashion, beauty, ethics and the environment. With starting this blog I hope to help others with their vegan lifestyle.

 

The Backstory

I first adopted a totally plant based diet back in January of 2016. My goal was to attempt to stick to a vegan/vegetarian diet after trying out many other diets such as pescetarianism/flexitarianism. Throughout the years I grew to enjoy it and educated myself on the many health benefits and ethical/environmental reasons as well. Coming to Fredonia I knew it was going to be a challenge to be plant based because of the minimal vegan/vegetarian dining options offered at the dining halls.

This was especially hard for me as a freshman living in the school dorms because I could not really make my own food and had to improvise most of the time. After experiencing that my first year I wanted to move off campus so I could cook my own meals. For many people wanting to become vegan or vegetarian, they face the struggle of not knowing where to begin because of the enormous amounts of information scattered throughout the internet.

One thing I will say is that myself becoming fully plant based definitely did not happen overnight. With the help of this blog I hope to share some tips on where to start on your plant based journey. As well as some fun recipes, product recommendations, and pretty much all things plant based.
