Last Friday was the Snatch Game Episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. This has got to be one of most favorite recurring challenges of this series.
Snatch Game is the drag parody of the famous game show, “Match Game.” The contestants impersonate various celebrities as they answer questions in full character. It really is a test of wit, charm, humor, and talent.
Throughout each season we have had some standouts. The ones that come to mind for me are Manila Luzon as a big-nosed Barbara Streisand, Kennedy Davenport singing rendition of Little Richard, Chad Michaels as Cher AKA herself, and Pandora Boxx’s out-of-her-mind Carol Channing.
This season has impressed me so much. There were so many strong performances with my personal favorites of Denali as the iconic gay Jesus Jonathan Van Ness, Gottmik’s eerily accurate Paris Hilton, and Symone with her risky choice of Harriet Tubman.
I must admit that this was also an episode with such great production. I really appreciated the references to modern celebrities from the historical of Mary, Queen of Scotts to modern social media mogul Patrick Starrr.
It is so hard to think of who I would consider impersonating for Snatch Game if I ever was on. As an Asian Drag Queen my choices are limited if I truly want to succeed, and that is a matter of Asian representation in the media. However, these are my choices so far:
