Hello, hi, mabuhay!
How have you all been? It’s been a minute since we last spoken.
For those who may not know, or just need a light reminder, my name is Fallon Angel, and I have come down from Heaven and graced you with my presence as Fredonia’s premiere headlining Drag Queen.
This semester I have been so privileged to be given the opportunity to be the host of New Works Now, here in the wonderful Alice E. Bartlett Theatre at SUNY Fredonia.
Ever since coming to school here, I have always dreamed of being on the stage in one of Fredonia’s mainstage productions. And now I have had the amazing opportunity to be the star of a show, as myself.
The entire production itself was a very special occasion. It has been literally two years since we last had an in-person performance here at SUNY Fredonia and I am certainly glad that we are doing it in style. Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, the world of theatre has gone through very drastic changes.
Especially here at Fredonia, we’ve made huge endeavors of filming productions, having Zoom performances, and limited capacity in-person for educational purposes performances. So obviously there have been budget cuts. I mean, they had me hosting this show. You know they actually called my good friend Miss Rupaul to host and when they found out her booking fee they said, well Fallon looks available!
We did not start with just one production, but an entire five productions. Ranging from short plays, two choreographed pieces, and a little musical. All written, directed, choreographed, performed, and produced by our very own students. It was truly a magical experience of live performances, unique each night, all shared in te Alice E. Bartlett Theatre.
I must commend our entire TADA department here for the resilience and ingenuity that it took to adjust to our new lifestyles. So much has changed and a lot for the better. A lot is new and we must embrace the
