Hosting as well as being a musical guest.
To follow up on my last post, being a host is a special opportunity that some get. The host runs around the entire live show. Fun fact: it is actually someone’s job to keep tabs on the host and move them where they have to go, depending on the scene or the next costume change.
Sometimes, people are given the opportunity to both host and be the musical guest. The combination of these two positions makes for a crazy live tapping.
Doing double the job has only happened to a select bunch of people.
As of October of 2023, the list is as follows.
The first of 46 is Paul Simon. His double duties took place on October 18, 1975, November 20, 1976, May 10, 1986, and December 19, 1987. He particularly liked having other stars join him for those nights as cohosts of a music collaborator.
The next person to be included is Lily Tomlin. She did double on November 22nd, 1975 and January 22nd, 1983.
