Suzanna Wojnowski I was browsing on TikTok when Rainn Wilson popped up. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t a scene from ‘The Office’, it was a snippet from Rich Roll’s podcast.
With Dwight Shrute being one of my favorite sitcom personas, I obviously had to keep watching, but the subject matter was what really intrigued me.
I feel like since Rainn Wilson played such a silly role in TV, it’s hard to think of him as a serious person. However, in just the minute long clip of the podcast, I could tell this was something he was very educated and passionate about.
A quote from Rainn that grabbed me was, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
This really made me stop and ponder what this meant to me. My interpretation is that, humans act the way humans do because of how society has sculpted us. Without the influence of external factors, we really are just spirits that are thrown in this environment with the expectation to act like a “normal” human.
As someone who loves to have deep conversations and wonder about the world’s unanswered questions, I knew I had to watch the full podcast.
I found the podcast on YouTube and decided to give a listen to figure out what the purpose of this episode was.
It turns out Rainn Wilson has just come out with a new book called “Soul Boom”. It’s about Rainn’s realization that the world is in need of a spiritual revolution, both on an individual and global scale.
His book is available on Amazon and Audible. You can also acquire it at brick and mortar stores like Barnes & Noble and Target.
While I haven’t read Soul Boom yet, I am going to try to get my hands on it after listening to the conversation with Rich Roll.
