Something very important that you should do before shopping is to know what you want. That shopping list needs to be exact and should have the information you need to shop.
The first thing you should do is figure out what you need to get, and to do that you should look through your fridge and cupboards, and figure out what needs to be refilled, replaced or what should be substituted.
This is what my mind looks like when I am going through my fridge and cupboards:
“Do I have enough pasta for the week? Do I want to add anything else to my pasta? How much butter do I have? Do I have the ingredients for chicken wing dip? Will I have room for all of this stuff in the necessary places? Do I want any snacks?”
And so many more questions. Now I plan what I am going to eat in a week, and I make sure I have the ingredients for it.
Here are my tips on making a grocery list:
- Know what you want to purchase or have an idea of what you need
- Grab a pen and paper, as well as your phone, computer, and/or ads
- Flip through the weekly ads of the stores that you frequently shop at
- Write down each store name and write down each product, followed by their sale and the original price
- Compare the prices of each product at each store and figure out if the sale at one store would be better than the original price or sale at another
- After your list is complete, look for any coupons that would be helpful for you
- Then look on Fetch! Rewards, and see if any products offer extra points per scan that are either on your list or that is something that you frequently use
- When finalizing your list, categorize the list by store, and department, and include the sale price and regular price
- Go to the store, complete your shopping, and when you are done, scan your receipts on Fetch! Rewards, and earn your points to get money back
- Head home, put your groceries away and make sure you check your receipts to make sure you have everything. Whatever you forget should be written on a new list of items to get later.
That is all of the wisdom that I have to give on how I make my shopping list and what I found to be easy and helpful. I hope this helps make an easier list for you and that you are able to save your money!
