After two disappointing losses last weekend, the Islanders bounced back in a big way with two big wins against the Lightning, and the Flyers.

On Thursday, the Islanders basically had to win or it would have been massive implications for the playoff race as the Penguins, and Panthers also won their games.

The Islanders followed that up by having one of their best games of the season in a 6-1 victory at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning, a team they usually cannot seem to beat.

The Islanders dominated this game from start to finish, with shots being 42-31 favoring the Islanders, with Ilya Sorokin getting an easy night, as the rest of the team doing their job.

The Islanders had an outpour of goals in the second period from Adam Pelech, Brock Nelson, Kyle Palmieri, and Ryan Pulock.

This is the first time in Islander history that Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock scored in the same game.

In the third period, Simon Holmstrom scored off a really nice pass from Bo Horvat, and then Bo Horvat got a nice goal of his own to close out the game.

On Saturday night, the Flyers faced off with the Islanders in another must win situation.

They continued to do their job with this time being a 4-0 victory.

This was Ilya Sorokin’s NHL leading 6th shutout of the season.

This time, the goals were from Scott Mayfield, Brock Nelson, Samuel Bolduc, and Hudson Fasching.

This was Scott Mayfield’s 6th goal of the season, a career high for the impending free agent.

Since the Panthers and Penguins won again, the Islanders continue to be in must-win situations with two games remaining, and do not count the Sabres out either!

That next game is tonight, against the Washington Capitals.

The Islanders will need another two points to make a playoff berth a certainty.

What did you guys think of the two performances?
