On the same day that the Islanders signed Hudson Fasching, they also signed Forward Matt Maggio to an entry level contract, allowing him to play in the NHL/AHL.

The Islanders drafted him in the 5th Round with the 142nd pick in last year’s draft.

As we know, he led the OHL in scoring with 111 points in 66 games for the Windsor Spitfires and was given an AHL tryout, to see what he has in a small sample size of three games.

In three games, he got two assists which is pretty good to start!

I wanted to show one of those assists and break down the play.

He uses his quick speed to evade the defenseman, and gives himself enough room to bullet a pass to Chris Terry for the goal.

It is good to have traits like good speed and good vision, and we will have to see what else he can do starting next year.

What do you guys think?
