In the last few years, Lou Lamoriello has made himself famous for keeping internal extensions a secret for a few months, leaving Islanders fans in despair for offseason moves.
This year, he announced a signing of a fan favorite two days after the season ended.

That fan favorite’s name is Hudson Fasching.
He was brought in at the beginning of the year to be a player for the Bridgeport Islanders, the minor league squad.
With injuries to Simon Holmstrom and Kyle Palmieri, the Islanders recalled Hudson Fasching on December 1st. At that point he had 11 points in 18 AHL games for Bridgeport.
From that point, he never looked back and stayed with the team for the rest of the year by playing a really good forechecking game and working hard on every shift.
Thus, this was the first year he was a consistent NHL player and he had the Islanders to thank for that, but the Islanders also have him to thank, he was one of the more consistent players this year.
In 49 games, Hudson had 10 goals, 9 assists and 19 points, and now will be a part of the Islanders bottom six for years to come and I could not be happier for Hudson.
If anyone deserves this moment, it is him!
Onto the terms of the contract!
I was expecting Hudson to get around 1.25 to about 1.5 million dollars per season, but I was pleasantly surprised by the contract itself.
Per CapFriendly, he is making 775,000 per season for the next two seasons, which I think is a complete bargain for the team.
This was the first of which should be many moves this offseason for the Islanders, as it should be an interesting offseason.
What do you guys think of the extension?
As always, Let’s Go Islanders.
