After much fight and passion, the Islanders lost Game 6 2-1 in Overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes thus ending their season which had a lot of ups and downs.

After Game 5, there was a lot of promise that the Islanders would mount a comeback in the series and force a game 7 in front of their fans at UBS Arena.

Before I preview what is coming up next for the team and especially this blog, I wanna do one last game recap.

At the 9:21 mark of the first period, Cal Clutterbuck scored his 1st of the postseason, assisted by Ryan Pulock and Casey Cizikas.

Throughout the rest of the first period and the entire second period, the Islanders remained competitive and controlled the hockey game and it looked like Carolina had no chance. Ilya Sorokin was playing rather fantastic as well.

However when the third period began, the Islanders let their foot off the gas and looked very non-competitive and that came back to bite them .

Sebastian Aho scored at the 9:24 mark to tie the game, and send it to Overtime.

While having a few chances in Overtime, they ultimately gave up a goal to Paul Statsny which ended the game and their season.

Ultimately, the Islanders did not have a good series at all, and their big guns did not perform at all and their power play was atrocious and one of the main factors of them losing the series.

The Power Play went 1/15 which is very embarrassing, and I expect a complete overhaul of the power play this offseason.

Does Lou Lamoriello stay as GM or does he move on? Does Head Coach Lane Lambert stay or be fired?

There are a lot of decisions for the Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky to make if they want their on-ice product to improve.

While this was a successful year for the Islanders, they came up short and it was not good enough.

In the 1st Episode of the Isles In The Stream Podcast, I will break down who played well and who ultimately did not play well, and that will be releasing timmorow!

As for the blog, I will be previewing the offseason and much more next week!

As always, thanks for reading and Lets Go Islanders!
