Standing for <\/b><b><i>N***as With Attitudes, <\/i><\/b><b>N.W.A was formed in the year 1987 by crew member Eric \u201cEazy-E\u201d Wright, a so-called rebel without a cause, in Compton, California under Ruthless Records.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Adding to the iconic group, we were blessed with members such as Andre \u201cDr. Dre\u201d Young, O\u2019Shea \u201cIce Cube\u201d Jackson, Antoine \u201cDJ Yella\u201d Carraby, and Lorenzo \u201cMC Ren\u201d Patterson. N.W.A. refers to their music as West Coast hip-hop, however, many others refer to it as \u201cgangsta rap\u201d because their record \u201cStraight Outta Compton\u201d is considered to be the first-ever album to be shipped with the \u201cparental advisory\u201d label on it. However, the record still managed to become the group\u2019s best-selling effort. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton (Official Music Video)\" width=\"920\" height=\"690\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TMZi25Pq3T8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>In addition, the group, like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, tackled issues that were facing urban youth including police brutality, racial profiling, and the struggles of the inner-city. This was particularly known within the song \u201cF**k tha Police\u201d which was strongly criticized for its violent and controversial lyrics.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Historically, N.W.A gained their long-lasting legacy the day that they received a letter from the FBI in regards to the song \u201cF**k tha Police.\u201d The letter read, \u201claw enforcement officers dedicate their lives to the protection of our citizens, and a recording such as the one from N.W.A are both discouraging and degrading to these brave, dedicated officers.\u201d They were then specifically asked to not play this record at one of their concerts in Detroit in 1989 for anti-protest reasons. Did they listen?
