2012-2019 Music

2012-2019 Music
  • Ight so it’s spring break and I’m back in the towns.

  • Currently otp w my son Syd AKA SydTheBaller AKA Nobody biggeeerr

  • But anyways. I was just remembering life like before Covid and it’s really funny how fun things really used to be. Now everything mad lame.

  • Especially when it comes to music. Like let’s really talk about it. Imma keep it between like 2012 and 2019.
  • 2012 was definitely a year. Personally I was in my white girl music bag. Call Me Maybe had all the girls going crazy. Maroon 5 was also going crazy. But let’s not forget Rihanna dropped “Diamonds”.

  • Chief Keef popped out that year tho. And I remember just hearing “Love Sosa” and “Don’t Like” and didn’t know what to think but just vibe and nod my head aggressively.

  • The white girls had 2013 again. Katy Perry dropped “Roar” and “Dark Horse”. Bangers. Miley Cyrus did her thing on “Wrecking Ball” too to be honest.

  • This when I first heard Drake with “Started From the Bottom” and “Hold On Were Going Home” . Started From the Bottom used to have me geeked no matter when or where I was when I heard it.

  • I’m pretty sure One Direction had some hits too like “Story of my Life”. They were cool. Wasn’t the biggest fan

  • But “What Does the Fox Say”???? That was my shit yo. Till this day I love it

  • 2014 is when life really started changing. For one, we gotta address the hottest tunes in the streets: “Hot Boy” and “Computers”.

  • Bobby and Rowdy really did their thing. Shoutout for real, they had the whole city HOT.

  • OT Genesis was bugging too. “CoCo” was a big tune.

  • But the girls really stepped. Nicki Minaj did her big one with “Anaconda”. Iggy had “Fancy”. We can’t forget about All “About that Bass” and “Shake it Off”.

  • And maybe top 5 songs of all time came out that year. “Rather Be”. Slaps everytime.

  • Bruno Mars did the Superbowl that year and it was fire.

  • This was also Chris Brown year. “Ayo” “Loyal” “New Flame” “Post to Be”. Legendary.

  • 2015 just kept rolling. With heat. Adele was dropping bangers like “Hello”.

  • Silento dead had the whole world with “Watch Me”. I was hitting the whip like every 10 seconds for no reason at all.

  • But the GOAT came out this year. Fetty Wappppppppp.

  • “679” “Trap Queen” “My Way” “RGF Island”. I don’t even have to keep going.

  • Now we have probably the greatest year I’ve ever lived in. 2016.

  • Let’s just examine the greatness that happened:

  • A Boogie dropped the Artist album. “My Shit” “Jungle” “Still Think About You”. COME ON MAN

  • Young Thug dropped Slime Season 3. Goated

  • Lil Uzi Vert popped . “Money Longer” and “You was Right”?????

  • Drake owned the year. His Views album is still his best to me. Hotline Bling had me in a chokehold.

  • Rihanna knew what she did when she dropped work. Enough said.

  • Rae Sremmurd and Post Malone had some bangers. Designer even had us listening to Panda at school tweaking at lunch.

  • Justin Bieber mad sure to get him a hit with “Love Yourself”.

  • This was the real beginning of SoundCloud rap. My son Famous Dex dead popped that off. Dexterrerr

  • Lil Yatchy was mad funny to me. “Minnesota” was hilarious.

  • Second best year ever. 2017.

  • Lil Uzi might own this year. LUV IS RAGE 2 might just be album of the year. “XO Tour Life” “Sauce it Up” “Dark Queen”. Legend.

  • Migos made their pop out and that was a crazy time to live in. Used to be walking around middle school yelling random adlibs. “Momma” “Offset” and way more. Culture the album was heat.

  •  Now not gonna lie, Ed Sheeran had mad hits this year. I love Ed Sheeran. “Perfect” is my fav song from him and came out this year.

  • 21 savage upped it too. Him and Kodak Black. This was also the XXXTentacion wave, RIP.

  • My boy PNB Rock, RIP, definitely made his big breakthrough and had the streets. People used to say I look like him. I dead remember Deniyah saying that once.

  • Camilla snapped with “Havana”.

  • For all the NBA Youngboy fans, I feel like this is when he first came out and got his audience.

  • And for the NYC people. We all remember the 22Gz and Sheff G impact on literally everyone. Drill really popped off crazy.

  • And although we don’t support him, 6ix9ine can’t be ignored. Boy went crazy. Like he had the whole world.

  • Can’t forget Lil Baby. “My Dawg” is certified for ever.

  • 2018 was also heat.

  • Migos repeated with Culture II. I can’t even name all the bangers. “Walk It Like I Talk It” was my favorite, “Narcos” too.

  • Drake had a crazy 2018 with Scorpion. Too many bangers. It was too much. “Gods Plan” “In My Feelings” “Nice For What” “I’m Upset”.

  • Travis Scott’s 2018 was big from what I can remember.

  • Cardi B made her entrance with “Bodak Yellow”. That was wild. I remember it used to be that song then they’ll play “Motorsport” with Nicki right after.

  • Gunna really started popping 2018 with “Drip Too Hard”.  Lil Baby again went crazy all year, especially with “Freestyle”.

  • Lil Durk started his comeback this year and G Herbo was getting bigger.

  • Lil Dicky had me mad weak with “Freaky Friday”.

  • Juice Wrld took over the world with Goodbye and Good Riddance. RIP. That album still makes me sad.

  • Now the last of the good years. 2019.

  • RIP Pop Smoke. That year is automatically his year. He started in 2018 tbh but 2019 is really when the world met the Woo. Represented Canarsie for real.

  • NYC in general was crazy. Bizzy Banks, Sheff and Sleepy, Nas Blixky, Jay Gwuapo, Jay Critch, OMB Jaydee, Eli Fross, Fivio Foreign, Lil Tjay, wild times.

  • Lil Tecca had Ransom. That was mad funny. Megan Thee Stallion also popped out this year.

  • DaBaby made 2019 his year too. Had mad tunes out on repeat all year. King Von started going up too. RIP.

  • And there’s so much more I probably left out. But y’all get the point. Music just isn’t the same anymore. At all.
