I was always the one chopping the vegetables, the job that no one else wanted to do. Now I always have most of these ingredients on hand and it has become a staple of my own.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of the recipes from my grandmother&#8217;s kitchen contain similar base ingredients; onion, oil, burghul, lemon, tomatoes, and parsley. This one is no different. Garlic is also a largely-used ingredient in Lebanese cooking although this one does not call for it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other day, I learned about my great-grandfather and his love of gardening. I had never heard any of these stories before and now it makes sense why I love growing my own food and sharing it with others. I&#8217;m sure my Sitte always had the freshest ingredients to work with.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-54 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fredstories.com\/grandmotherskitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_2310-edited.jpg?resize=745%2C466&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Close-up photo of prepared tabouli\" width=\"745\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fredstories.com\/grandmotherskitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_2310-edited.jpg?w=1536&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fredstories.com\/grandmotherskitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_2310-edited.jpg?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fredstories.com\/grandmotherskitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_2310-edited.jpg?resize=1024%2C640&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fredstories.com\/grandmotherskitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_2310-edited.jpg?resize=768%2C480&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fredstories.com\/grandmotherskitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_2310-edited.jpg?resize=96%2C60&amp;ssl=1 96w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tabouli <\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 cups burghul<br \/>2 bunches of curly parsley<br \/>2 stems of green onion, chopped<br \/>2 large tomatoes, diced<br \/>1 large cucumber, diced<br \/>\u00bc cup lemon juice<br \/>\u00bc cup oil (my grandmother uses vegetable oil)<br \/>Salt &amp; pepper<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Soak burghul in 4 cups of warm water and squeeze dry once fully tender.<\/li>\r\n<li>Chop parsley and onion fine. Dice tomato and cucumber.<\/li>\r\n<li>Add all dry ingredients to a bowl.<\/li>\r\n<li>Pour in lemon juice and oil, and add salt and pepper to taste.<\/li>\r\n<li>Mix well, and let stand in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Serve with lettuce leaves. Redress as needed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW WE PREFER IT<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some will say that tabbouleh is only best eaten fresh, but my family and I swear its better the next day.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are always adding more lemon juice, oil, and salt to taste.
