The creators of Clash of Clan and Clash royal Supercell has recently announced a partnership with ESL Faceit partner group. This deal is up to a reported £1.58m ($2M) and will see SnapdragonProSeries produce the Brawl stars championship series.

To some in the esports community this may seem out of the blue, a mobile game getting sponsored and produced by a major production company. However brawl stars dominance has not been a surprise, in fact its been a thriving and growing scene.

It started in 2018 with the release of Brawl Stars. At this time brawl stars was still a low stake and fun mobile game. It soared to popularity, running as the Number 1 mobile game for 6 weeks strait. It was also on the top ten mobile apps for 3 months according to Sensotower.com.

At one point in 2018, Brawl Stars had an incredible 30.84 Million downloads. From this popularity spawned a grassroots community, who without help from the developers started organizing and hosting tournaments.

After the games inclusion of Friendly battles, a mode where resources and rank weren’t an issue community tournaments grew like weeds. Players from every level of skill came to compete for nothing more than status. Unlike other developers in the space, supercell saw the fast growing and flourishing community.

In 2019 Supercell announced the Brawl Stars Championship. This Global tournament brough teams and players from all around the world. And with $1,000,000 in prize money to win, this brough all eyes to Brawl Stars. This was a huge success, and the Brawl Stars Championship has been constantly growing and evolving ever since. The community has grown increasingly professional, with team sponsors, training schedules, player contracts, and bigger productions. Not only did the scene become more legitimized, but so did gameplay.

New strategies and team comps kept teams innovating and pushing the meta. This along with new characters, and interesting content updates kept the game fresh and interesting to new and old players. This culminated in the 2021 Brawl Stars Championship, seeing teams from around the world each showcasing unique playstyles.

Brawl stars has continued to surprise again and again. This new landmark deal with ESL Faceit shows the next chapter of Brawl Stars esports. With bigger sponsors, bigger venues, and better productions. There is no doubt that Brawl stars and mobile gaming are the next chapter for Mobile Gaming as a whole.
