From the days of $6 mason jars to the Beach party, Bj’s, not to be confused with the wholesale club, has been the trustworthy friend getting many of us through college.
September 28th the bar hosted the musicians
We Were Blank, Milo Duhn, and Sunday Reign.
The show felt warm and welcoming while showcasing alternative music. This week the bar was not packed wall to wall so I took the opportunity to speak to some of the attendees.
I went around looking for people that have attended shows in the past in addition to being in attendance that night.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Abby Emig. We took a step outside away from the noise and I asked her a few questions. Abby is a Senior Biology major and Chemistry minor.
The next person I spoke with was Connor Alward, self proclaimed bar rat. Connor found BJ’s while in town during his military leave; he was on the hunt for local music. “Basement shows are huge in California, so it was cool to do something that I did in California and back home here.” This was a very cool experience for me to be able to talk to people who also have a love for these shows. I look forward to getting the opportunity to talk with even more attendees of the shows, and eventually some of the band members, in the coming weeks.
I do not know the next show that is happening at BJ’s. However, Last Call announced a show on November 9th at BJ’s. It is the band Carpool’s EP release show. So the show will feature the bands Carpool ,Speed Dial, and a special guest.
Stay tuned for my post about that show, I do love a Carpool show.
In the meanwhile, check out the ep For Nasal Use Only by Carpool on all music streaming platforms <3.
