Music is the string that connects each individual to one another. It builds a sense of community and belonging. My goal is to use this blog to strengthen the, already strong, music scene in Fredonia, New York.
I graduated from Dunkirk High School and ever since I was a Junior in high school, I have been going to shows in Fredonia. The only shows I was able to get in at that age were the ones at the North Pole Strip Club, which quickly became my second home. The shows there actually ended last semester (RIP).
After beginning college, I wanted to be even more involved so I began taking photos for these local shows. I then reached an age where I could start sneaking into shows at BJ’s, a dive bar in Fredonia, and my love for this scene grew.
I want to share my favorite part of Fredonia to the world.
In attempt to do so, I will be reviewing the local shows at BJ’s. These reviews will be my own opinions, real and honest but, always kind.
I will also get the opportunity to speak with the bands and the audience. I want to build a bridge between the artists and the crowd. I am looking to take this opportunity to share why other people also love the Fredonia music scene.
In addition to that I have some interviews planned with those who are currently working in the music industry. These interviews will be with people who are in their 20’s, in hope to show current students the possibilities that are available right out of school.
I would like to take the chance to share new music I stumble upon, by perhaps sharing a playlist or a music video.
So to answer the question, the Birds are you! The Birds are anyone who feels a deep connection to music. We are all Birds.
