The Billboard Said, “The End is Near”

As Phoebe Bridgers said “the end is near”.

As we enter finals week and the official end of the semester, I bring to you two last posts. This one and one more towards the end of the week.

The month of November threw many obstacles my way. Some of these obstacles followed me into December. One of these obstacles led to me not being able to go to the last BJ’s show of the semester, very sad I know.

With the lovely benefit of having social media, I was able to see all sorts of videos of the talented musicians from that night. Between social medias posts and speaking with friends that attended the show, I heard it was a night full of beautiful music. Nothing but rave reviews.

I also want to bring attention to and congratulate the cool cats in Amphobia.

They just took first place in the 2022 Battle of the New Bands, held by the Music Industry Club of SUNY Fredonia. I look forward to seeing and listening to what they have in store.

I think that is a part of the magic that is shows at BJ’s.

It may be a small bar on a corner in an even smaller town, but it is full of opportunities.

This stage, that is usually the home to two dart boards, has had musicians from every scale of life. While also giving students the chance to play on a real stage in front of a, typically, packed bar.

On the opposite side of the show, this bar allows for the audience to be a part of the performance. From having the crowd hop on stage and grab the mic to sing along to their favorite song or the lead singer performing the song from the middle of the crowd. There is a connection made at these shows that is hard to find.

I’ll save the emotions for the last For the Birds post. Off to study for now (play Minecraft).
