Last week, I had the pleasure of seeing The Weather Might Say Otherwise perform in BJ’s. Now of course their original songs are bops on their own (which you should check out on streaming platforms!) but something they played that night stood out to me. That would be their cover of the Total Drama Island theme song.
This reminded me of the many iconic songs that are the theme songs to a TV show.
I will be taking a look at ten of my favorite theme songs and I have created a rating system to compare them.
(These are not paired in a particular way.)
Since we are in the day of streaming and bingeing series, theme songs are often ignored or skipped. Netflix went as far as adding a button to skip the intro song.
While I was going through TV shows to feature I raised some questions for myself and the reader to think about.
What makes a good theme song?
Does it need to have lyrics to be successful?
Should I be able to get tired of the song?
Should a theme song change with the seasons of the show?
