{"id":344,"date":"2023-05-03T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-03T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fredstories.com\/foreverbooked\/?p=344"},"modified":"2023-05-16T20:10:23","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T00:10:23","slug":"april-reading-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fredstories.com\/foreverbooked\/april-reading-wrap-up\/","title":{"rendered":"april reading wrap-up!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s officially May (I&#8217;m not sure <em>how<\/em>), so that mean it&#8217;s time for my April reading wrap-up! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">April wasn&#8217;t a great reading month for me as I hit a pretty big slump about halfway through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which I totally blame my friend for jinxing my amazing reading streak, but that&#8217;s beside the point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did end up reading <strong>three <\/strong>great-ish books last month! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>This Time Next Year <\/strong>by Sophie Cousens <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I ended up rating this book a <strong>three <\/strong>stars. There were many things that I deeply disliked about this book, and it took me forever to get through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it did have some redeeming qualities! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although, the first book I read by this author, I wasn&#8217;t a big fan of. So, maybe this author isn&#8217;t for me, and I won&#8217;t be continuing with this author in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Talk Flirty to Me <\/strong>by Livy Hart<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Super cringy title I know, but this book was a <strong>five <\/strong>star. Hands down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a beautifully written second chance romance with passion and humor that kept me turning the page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The beginning was a bit slow to get into, so I wasn&#8217;t sure it was <em>going <\/em>to be a five star, but that <em>feeling <\/em>quickly emerged as I continued reading. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was extremely cute, and I can&#8217;t wait to read more from this author! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>The Darkest Note <\/strong>by Neila Alarcon<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the first book in a trilogy, and I started reading the second one \u2026 but I haven&#8217;t finished it yet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was pleasantly surprised with this book, and I rated it a <strong>four point five. <\/strong>It was a great read, but I didn&#8217;t get that five star feeling like I did with <em>Talk Flirty to Me. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found this book on TikTok, and recs from there are wishy-washy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But! I did have a great time reading this, and hopefully I can finish the series this month!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Okay, I might take back my great-ish statement. It started rough with <em>This Time Next Year, <\/em>but things quickly went up with the next two books. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had a rating average of <strong>four stars <\/strong>last month. That <em>is <\/em>pretty great! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let me know what YOU read in April! And if you&#8217;ve hit a slump like I have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(I partially have my newest obsession with professional hockey to blame.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, guess who FINALLY has <em>Happy Place <\/em>in her possession! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Me!
