Take a look around your bookshelf (or shelves), and take note how many are written by authors of color. It might be time to diversify your bookshelf!
Even if you already read a plethora of diverse authors and stories, there’s always room to read more! And it’s a great way to show your support for authors of color in an industry that works against them.
I’m still relatively new getting back into reading, and I didn’t think I’d read as many diverse books as I have.
And I know there’s always room for more!
(I really want to read Seven Days in June by Tia Williams, but I really dislike the paperback shortened cover, so I’m waiting for the hardcover price to go down haha)
Also, there are many diverse books sitting on my shelf waiting to be read!
SO, if you’re looking for more diverse reads, here’s a list of nine books that feature diverse voices!
As always, this is spoiler free.
Not all of the books feature diverse characters … but they all feature diverse authors!
Again, as always, search up trigger warnings! Also, some of these books are YA, and some contain mature content.
So, the moral of the story here, is to do your research after reading this blog!
- The Bad Boy and the Tomboy by Nicole Nwosu

- To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series by Jenny Han

- The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

- Girl Gone Viral by Arvin Ahmadi

- Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon

- Perfect Illusion by Claudia Tan

- The Obsession by Jesse Q. Sutanto

- You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria

- The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa

There you have it! Here are nine books to diversify your bookshelf!
And the best part, most of these are series! Or the author has more than one book!
Let me know YOUR favorite books by diverse authors.
Stay tuned for my next post coming this weekend!
