Hey everyone! My name is Cassidy and this is Find Your Niche.
Find Your Niche is a platform I made to talk about music and write guides to get into micro genres. I’m a senior music industry major at SUNY Fredonia and actually got the idea for this blog in one of my classes.
It started when my teacher handed out an article about how Spotify characterized music into “micro genres” in order to market them to consumers. A lot of these genres were extremely hyper specific and confusing to where most people wouldn’t even know where to start. I wanted to be able to use my music knowledge to write “guides” on how to get into them and that’s how Find Your Niche was born!
A Little bit about me…
I listen to a lot of different music genres but my heart lies with rap/hip hop. I grew up in Brooklyn where rap culture is really prominent so it kinda just came natural to me.
I also was raised by two NYC 90’s club kids so I wasn’t raised on your normal American Rock. I was essentially listening to House/EDM from the womb so that’s another genre that lies close to my heart.
Born Slippy by Underworld has to my favorite house track. Listening to this just brings me back to my childhood and my dad forcibly making me fist bump in the car with this sing playing. I would say my childhood was… different.
Anyways, my first guide will be up soon and I hope you stick around and maybe find your next favorite genre.
