Last Sunday, April 24th, was my 21st birthday. A bunch of my family and friends came to Fredonia to visit and we got dinner at Demetri’s on the Lake. If you’ve never been there, the restaurant is located right next to the pier and across from the Boardwalk Market.
The Boardwalk Market is a strip of restaurants, pubs and shops along the pier. After dinner, we walked around and checked it out. I went into the Artisan Shop, called Papaya Arts, where they had the prettiest jewelry, clothing, accessories, hand made decorations and more. My moms friend bought the most beautiful crystal necklace while we were there.
The owner of the shop also had the cutest, most well-trained dog I’ve ever seen. She was laying down in front of the register when we walked in, so quiet that we didn’t even notice her at first. She would wander outside to sunbathe then come in for a break every few minutes.
Right outside of the shop, there were tables all along the boardwalk where lots of people sat around hanging out and eating pizza and ice cream. I also noticed a little bar called 64 on the Pier where people really seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I got so lucky with the weather that day. It was clear skies, sunny skies and mid 70s.
The atmosphere was incredible.
After exploring the boardwalk we took a walk down the pier and enjoyed the extensive view of Lake Erie. Along the way I ran into multiple Fredonia students I knew. It seems like the pier is the place to be when the weather gets nice.
All the way down there are benches that line the pier where you can sit and look out at the water. There were people fishing and taking their boats out as well.
When we reached the end of the pier, we stood around enjoying the views, the sunshine, and each others company. There was a large grass area in the middle where we threw around a football too.
I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. I’m so glad that I chose Demetri’s and the pier as our destination.
It was so cool getting to share a piece of my new home with my friends and family.
