<\/p>\nHello, my name is Alyssa. Welcome to Cheap Face!<\/p>\n
I wanted to give some background on who I am and why I am starting this blog.<\/p>\n
Currently, I am a college student at SUNY Fredonia.<\/p>\n
I am majoring in Journalism and PR with a minor in English. I am also the Life & Arts Editor for The Leader, SUNY Fredonia\u2019s only student-run newspaper.<\/p>\n
My Myers-Briggs personality type is ENFJ-T. Also, if you are into astrology, I am a Cancer sun, Aries moon and Taurus rising (sigh\u2026 so many emotions).<\/p>\n
I\u2019m originally from Cuba, NY\u2014 a cute but somewhat claustrophobic town.<\/p>\n
I found it somewhat hard to express myself growing up in a town with a whopping 3,000 residents.<\/p>\n
But I ended up becoming interested in makeup after watching beauty influencers on YouTube.<\/p>\n
I admired how creative some of their looks were. I also enjoyed watching the process of these YouTubers doing their makeup.<\/p>\n
That hobby has not faded. In fact, some of my favorite YouTubers currently are Bailey Sarian, Smokey Glow, amandabb and Too Much Mouth.<\/p>\n
However, I didn\u2019t seriously start getting into makeup until about a year ago, right before COVID-19 hit.<\/p>\n
But because of quarantine, I started doing makeup more often to keep myself occupied.<\/p>\n
Going from living on campus to moving back home with my parents was definitely not a part of my plan for 2020, but it gave me some time to start a new hobby.<\/p>\n
I hated feeling confined in a town with only two stoplights in high school, and then I ended up having to go back home for nearly two semesters.<\/p>\n
But there wasn\u2019t much else to do, so I started practicing makeup looks fairly often.<\/p>\n
No longer being tied down to a high school social hierarchy, I decided it was about time I started looking how I wanted to.<\/p>\n
With time and practice, I ended up getting better. However, I would still consider my skills to be average.<\/p>\n
However, I began to realize that I, as a broke college student and a very anxious spender, don\u2019t have the capabilities to buy the best-of-the-best makeup.<\/p>\n
But then it hit me\u2014 why should I have to?<\/p>\n
Just because most mainstream beauty influencers try to shove expensive yet unnecessary makeup products down my throat doesn\u2019t mean I need to buy them.<\/p>\n
So instead of wasting money on a $30 Nars blush, I realized Milani blush is just as good for $8.<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t think I am the only makeup user out there that can\u2019t bear the price tag of luxurious makeup.<\/p>\n
And I am tired of feeling like I should.<\/p>\n
